Back in the summer of 2021, an idea was born to help firms who needed a full development service but didn’t have access to available or appropriate resources. Founded by Simon Hill and Mark Garnish, both of whom have over 30 years’ experience in the legal technology space, Xperate was officially unveiled on 1st September 2021.
Bharat Gidde soon joined as CTO and started building an offshore team based in Pune, India comprising of the most talented software developers and architects in the area. A team was also starting to form in the UK too, with Stuart Hatt joining in October as Head of Operations, followed by three of the most experienced Solutions Consultants in the Legal Tech profession.

The business has gone from strength to strength in the months that followed, and we’ll have over 50 full time staff across the UK and India by the end of the first quarter of our new financial year, with more to follow. Our work in our first year of trading has varied from developing integrations to providing development resource on a fixed term basis. We’re grateful to all our clients for putting their trust in us and look forward to building on our relationships over the coming year.
